2.5.1 Configuring the LAN controller
BeforeyoucanestablishaconnectiontotheASMB8-iKVMboard,youmustcongurethe
LANportforservermanagementusedbytheremoteservertoconnecttothelocal/central
server.
ToconguretheLANportoftheremoteserver:
1. RuntheASMC8utilityfromthesupportCDfollowingtheinstructionsintheprevious
section.
2. SetIPsource:
a. Type
ASMC8 -bmc_ip_source 1
ifyouwanttosetastaticIPaddress.
b. Type
ASMC8 -bmc_ip_source 2
ifyouwanttogetIPfromDHCPserver.
3. Type
ASMC8 -bmc_ip xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
thenpress<Enter>toassignanyIP
addresstotheremoteserverLANport(ifnecessary).Thescreendisplaystherequest
and response buffer.
WritetheremoteserverIPaddressinapieceofpaperforreference.

Detect MotherBoard -> (Z10PA-D8 Series)
Detect KCS Interface
New BMC IP : 10.10.10.243

Whennished,theutilityreturnstotheDOSprompt.
MakesurethattheassignedIPaddressforbothremoteandlocal/centralserversareinthe
samesubnet.YoucanusethenetworksettingsutilityinyourOStocheck.
4. Congureyoursubnetmaskandgatewayaddressifnecessary.
a. Type

b. Type
ASMC8 -bmc_gateway xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

5. Restarttheremoteserver,entertheBIOSsetup,thenbootfromtheharddiskdrive.
6. Adjustthelocal/centralservernetworksettings,ifnecessary.
