Features of the ASUS TX97-N Motherboard
The ASUS TX97-N motherboard is carefully designed for the demanding PC user
who wants many features in a small package, namely:
Mini NLX: Features ASUS’ custom designed mini-NLX form factor.
Intel Chipset: Features Intel’s 430TX PCIset.
Onboard VGA: Has ATI 3D Rage VGA onboard with 1MB upgradable to 2MB.
Onboard Audio: Has Yamaha 16-bit audio onboard.
LCD Support: Supports a LCD panel as an alternative to a bulky monitor.
Slim CD-ROM: Supports a notebook-sized slim CD-ROM drive.
Wake on LAN: Supports wake on LAN activity with special network cards.

Versatile Memory Support: Is equipped with two DIMM sockets to support
8-128MB 168-pin 3.3Volt SDRAM/EDO memory modules up to 256MB.
ISA & PCI Expansion Slots: Provides one 16-bit ISA slot & two 32-bit PCI slots
Super Multi-I/O: Provides an onboard I/O processor for two high-speed UART-
compatible serial ports and one parallel port with EPP and ECP capabilities.

Desktop Management Interface (DMI): Supports DMI through BIOS, which

PCI Bus Master IDE Controller: Has onboard Ultra DMA/33 Bus Master
IDE controller with two connectors (one for CD-ROM only). Supports two IDE
devices up to 8.4GB using one channel. Supports Bus Master UltraDMA/33 IDE,
PIO Modes 3 & 4, and Bus Master IDE DMA Mode 2. Includes integrated key-
board controller. Supports two of either 5.25-inch (360KB, 1.2KB) or 3.5-inch
disk drives (720KB, 1.44MB, 2.88MB). Supports Japanese “Floppy 3 mode”
(3.5-inch disk drive: 1.2MB) and LS-120 floppy disk drives (3.5-inch disk drive:
120 MB, 1.44MB, 720K). BIOS supports IDE CD-ROM or SCSI device bootup.
TV Out: Supports optional onboard TV out funtion using ImpacTV chipset.
Symbios SCSI BIOS: Supports optional ASUS SCSI controller cards through
onboard firmware.
Performance: Provides 528MB/s data transfer rate using SDRAM, 33MB/s IDE
transfer rate using Bus Master UltraDMA/33 IDE, concurrent PCI allows multiple
PCI transfers
Compliancy: Is ACPI ready for advanced power management features and PC’97
for greater support.
Easy Installation: Incorporates BIOS that supports autodetection of hard disk
drives, PS/2 mouse, and Plug and Play devices to make setup of hard disk drives,
expansion cards, and other devices virtually automatic.
Riser Card: Provides NLX power, primary IDE, floppy drive, LAN wake up
connector, 2 PCI slots, 1 ISA slot, 2 USB ports, and IrDA.
